I figured since I'm a member of this board I would ask the question here first. Anyone have any experience with booking a waterfront motel in the Bay of Quinte area for a self serve ice fishing trip? The reason I'm looking for waterfront is so that I can leave the room and head out with the ATV and gear instead having to pull it to a launch location. Any help or advice with this appreciated.
Where ever you decide to book a place, make sure it is not the Algin Motel. The worst experience renting a motel in my life, mice in the room all night, a hole in one of the windows in the room had us freezing all night long. When my buddy went to the manager about the window, he asked my friend . . . " just what did we expect him to do about it. . . " A 10 X 10 hut was to accompany the motel room, when we got to the hut it was maybe 4X6 at best, 3 of us had to fish outside. Oh.... & the heater ran out of fuel 3 hours into our day & he refused to bring us more fuel.
At any rate good luck finding a place, search around, check reviews & ask the locals about the place you find.
By the way the Pickerel fishing was fantastic, the only thing that made our trip worth while.

Thanks to all that replied, i was able to find suitable accommodation in Deseranto. The bite was very slow and only managed one walleye. The ice thickness was unbelievable as we could only find between 4 and 6 in of ice no matter where we went, locals say it's because of the current, a little unnerving with quad and gear in tow. I did find one interesting feature, we launched our equipment from a township park open for anyone to use and to my surprise there were no parking meters, no booth collecting money and free parking for all and not just for residents, something that is quite the opposite in Innisfil. So instead of putting the money into town coffers we patronized two local restaurants, bait shop, variety store, LCBO in addition to our accommodations. I will still continue to fish Lake Simcoe but the only money that Innisfil is getting out of me is my parking fees everything else comes from home. Remember, Bay of Quinte is is as popular if not more so than Cooks Bay and they seem to get by without raping the tourists. Food for thought.....
peter: sorry the board was down the other day , forgot to puy the bill , all good now

pasnydes: I shall revise that first comment and ask if the ice is good on lake Simco. The ice here on lake Erie and its bays is iffy at best.
