Hey guys. I hope everyone had a great time on the hard water. With the coming of spring i have decided to try another one of my dreams and learn fly fishing. I bought myself a simple fly rod and thought i would give it a try. If any of you are into fly fishing i would like to meet up for a few quick pointers.
Use a hat that provides cover for your ears and glasses for eye protection. Basic technic for overhand cast is to have the rod working between 9-10 and 12. Underhand (if you have obstruction behind you) is to lift your rod slowly until 12 position and when the line is almost parallel you move your rod fast to 9 position.
I suggest you start practice on land and don’t forget hat and glasses or you will have some new piercings. Try to get your leader to land straight, that will avoid a lot of knots on your line. I have my boat in Gilford and if I get away from the kids one day I can help you.
peter: sorry the board was down the other day , forgot to puy the bill , all good now

pasnydes: I shall revise that first comment and ask if the ice is good on lake Simco. The ice here on lake Erie and its bays is iffy at best.

pasnydes: Yes I have. Ice is not real solid real firm from what ive read. looking for colder waters and thicker ice.
